Drink&Draw Helsinki x Qaareva

Pride-viikon kunniaksi Qaareva ja Drink & Draw Helsinki (@Drinkndrawhelsinki) järjestävät yhteistapahtuman keskiviikkona 28.6. klo 17-20 Teatterimuseolla. (In Eng below!)

Aiheena on queer-kehon tutkielma. Tapahtuma sisältää elävän mallin piirtämistä ja kaksi upeaa esiintyjää: Ode Ilo ja Susanna Viljanmaa ! Tapahtuma on tarkoitettu kaikentasoisille piirtäjille sekä taiteesta nauttijoille!

ESTEETTÖMYYS: Tila on saavutettava liikkumisen apuvälineitä käyttäville. Tapahtuman sisäänkäynti on Teatterimuseon pääsisäänkäynti (Tallberginkatu 1, 00180 Helsinki). Teatterimuseon pääovelle pääsee luiskaa pitkin ja ovi avautuu painikkeella. Tapahtuma sijaitsee museon toisessa kerroksessa, jonne pääsee aulasta tilavalla hissillä.

Esteettömät wc:t sijaitsevat ala-aulassa ja 2. kerroksessa. Wc:t ovat sukupuolineutraaleja. Tilassa ei käytetä tekosavua tai vilkkuvia valoja. Tapahtumaan on varattu pyörätuolipaikkoja ja tilaan on mahdollista tuoda avustaja- tai opaskoira.

Matka lähimmältä ratikkapysäkiltä (ratikka 8 ) Teatterimuseon etuovelle on 150 m. Ruoholahden metropysäkiltä museolle on 550 m. Kaapelitehtaan sisäpihalla on kaksi esteetöntä autopaikkaa, joissa pysäköinti on rajoitettu neljään tuntiin.

Piirtäminen tapahtuu piirrustusalustoilla, joita jokainen osallistuja pitää sylissään. Kaikki piirustusvälineet kuuluvat lipun hintaan, mutta saat toki tuoda myös omasi.

ESIINTYJÄT:

Susanna Viljanmaa on toiminut Suomen theremin-pioneerina rakentaen

thereminejä, säveltäen ja esittäen teoksia sekä opettamalla sen soittoa. Hän

rakensi ensimmäisen theremininsä 2002 rakennussarjasta ja kehittelee edelleen omia mallejaan. Susanna Viljanmaata kuulee useimmin kinokonserteissa ympäri maata esittäen soundtrackin elävänä mykkäelokuvan päälle. Niiden lisäksi hän esittää thereminillä ja vokaaleilla vanhoja klassikoita theremin-sovituksina.

Study of a Queer Bodyssa näemme teoksen, jossa keho ja sen liike sulautuu yhteen thereminin, modulaarisyntetisaattorien ja looperien kanssa.

Taiteilijapersoonista ammentava Ode Ilo on itsekin ensimmäisiä vuosiaan viettävä taiteilijapersoona, joka on syntynyt edeltäjiensä Filip Emil Hämäläisen ja Helinä Elorannan taiteellisen työskentelyn kautta. Taiteilijapersoonia yhdistää sukupuolen, sukupuoliroolien ja seksuaalisuuden käsittely osana taiteilijan omaa henkilöhistoriaa. Myös Ode Ilon toiminnassa on syntynyt uusi persoona, Ode Incubus.

Ode Incubus on Ode Iloa öisin riivaava demoni, joka kuiskuttelee (rienaa), viettelee ja pelottelee alistumaan binääriseen normiin ja estetiikkaan. Ode Incubusta pelkäävät kadottavat sielunsa, kun monisukupuolinen demoni ruokkii itseään kyltymättömästi sukupuolivihalla ja -pelolla, jota alistetut sielut hänelle tarjoavat. Hän rakentaa uhriensa mieleen muureja, joiden läpi he eivät uskalla vaeltaa, kieltäytyen kohtaamasta moninaisuutta, jota Ode Incubus häikäilemättömästi heille esittää.

 On Wednesday 28.6. on Pride week from 5pm to 8pm Qaareva and Drink & Draw Helsinki will hold a collaborative event called Study of a Queer Body at Teatterimuseo!

The event is for celebrating queer bodies through drawing live models and seeing amazing queer performances by Ode Ilo and Susanna Viljanmaa! The event is for all skill levels of drawers and enjoyers of art.

ACCESSIBILITY: The event is accessible for people using a mobility aid. You can get to the event from the Theatre Museum's main entrance (Tallberginkatu 1, 00180 Helsinki) that has a ramp leading up to it. Pushing the door opening button will open the double door on the right. The event is held on the second floor, you can get there using the lobby elevator.

Accessible toilets are located in the lobby and the 2nd floor. All bathrooms are gender neutral. No smoke machine or flashing lights are used in the performances. There are wheelchair spots at the event and guide and assistance dogs are welcome. Closest tram stop (tram 8 ) is located 150 meters from the main entrance and closest metro station is Ruoholahti (550 meters from the main entrance). Two accessible parking spaces are located in the courtyard of the Cable Factory. Parking here is limited to four hours.

Drawing happens on drawing boards that participants hold in their lap. All necessary art supplies are included in the ticket price.

PERFORMERS:

Susanna Viljanmaa has acted as the theremin pioneer of Finland by building them, composing and performing works for it and doing playing instruction. She built her first theremin in 2002 from a DIY kit and is still developing her own models. You can most often hear Susanna in cinema concerts around the country, performing a soundtrack over a silent movie. In addition to that she performs old classics as new adaptations with a theremin and vocals.

In Study of a Queer Body we will see a piece where the body and its motion will melt together with theremin, modular synthesizers and loopers.

Influenced by artist personas, Ode Ilo is a persona born from their predecessors Filip Emil Hämäläinen and Helinä Elorantas artistic work. What links all of these personas is the processing of gender, gender roles and sexuality as part of their own personal history. Through Ode Ilos work a new persona has been born, Ode Incubus.

Ode Incubus is a demon possessing Ode Ilo at night, they whisper, seduce and threaten Ode Ilo to succumb to the binary norm and esthetics. Those who fear Ode Incubus will lose their souls as this multi-gendered demon feeds themself with gender hatred and fear provided by the souls. Ode Incubus builds walls in the minds of their victims that they do not dare to venture through, denying to face the diversity that Ode Incubus ruthlessly performs for them.
